A sign of dumbing down?

In my art school days, I once saw David Hockney going round an art exhibition. He was wearing a red sock on his left leg and a green one on his right. I expect he had another pair just the same.

Well that was so he could tell which was port and which was starboard .....!!!

Of course over ambitious technology by rather modest technicians may also require dumbing down.

In october I had the occasion to transit between the rail and air at a place called Birmingham.

In a hurry I entered the compartment of an object that looked like Magnetically Elevated Linear Motor Translation Device.

I quickly realised that my first impressions were very wrong; the device ran on noisy little wheels and was pulled along by a length of  3/4" steel cable.[:D][:D]
