SW17 - an idea that might help you cut down the weight (if that's one of the things that's worrying you) is to post on spare sets of clothes, food items etc to the various places you'll be staying at.

Eddie once did a long walk in Scotland and planned ahead like that. He also rang me while en route and asked me to post stuff.

Mind this was quite expensive, but we were still earning at the time.
