woolybanana
This article opens a can of worms in a very serious way. Not sure if the tentative conclusions are right as they seem to, pat, but they are certainly tempting:http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/2011/oct/31/economics-religion-research
Théière
In the words of Harry Hil only one way to find out...,..FIGHT! but then they have been doing that for hundred's of years so guess its a draw.
NormanH
Why leave out Judaism, Buddhism Hinduism and Islam? Or Vodoo for that matter..You could as easily say that people who live in warmer climates find it hard to work in the afternoon.A completely spurious argument which is akin to racism in suggesting that certain peoples are less capable of hard work than others...Perhaps capitalism measures success by material criteria while other religions have other ways of judging? A new bathroom suite or Nirvana? Take your pick [:)]
woolybanana
One suggestion, Norman, I think, is that it is religions which might cause these differences. That is not racism.
Patf
It's an interesting question - where does the work ethic come from? I remember a conversation we had with some french friends here who were incredulous when we described to them how we had worked 8 am to 10pm when Eddie was starting up one of his businesses in the UK. With no holidays for 5 years. Was the difference due to the catholic v. protestant/ jewish ethic , or other factors?
idun
This has been doing the rounds for years. Along with the flamands saying bad things about the wallons and northern italians saying bad of the southern italians. I'm a little surprised it is a Guardian article, thought it would be the Mail.
