just john
The question is bigger than Gary Speed, when a seemingly contented man such takes his own life, loved ones may wonder how they missed the warning signs. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/if-suicide-is-the-answer-what-is-the-question-6269182.html

crossy67
I think part of the problem is some peoples lac of understanding. I read a post on Face Book the day it happened condemning the man for "taking the cowards way out". The post was really nasty accusing him of deserting his two children etc etc. I think this attitude is a large part of the problem, men are strong, right? Telling a friend you're on a downer and can't see the point in life? Well what response would you expect, especially from people that slate victims of suicide? Russethouse
I remember reading Fern Britain's auto biography: she said she was a 'smiley depressive' the worse she felt the more she pretended to everything was OK - she sought treatment and still takes medication even though she says she feels fine now.
