mint
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/syria/9097762/Syria-Sunday-Times-journalist-Marie-Colvin-killed-in-Homs.htmlI am filled with sadness and admiration mixed.Sometimes we do take it for granted that we should be told "all the news" and, if it were not for brave men and women like her, we'd hear nothing or worse we'd only hear the bits that the bad guys allow us to know. Hoddy
I've been afraid for her so many times that this has a feeling of inevitably about it. Very sad.Hoddy
Christine Animal
A French reporter was also killed.http://actu.orange.fr/medias/le-journaliste-francais-remi-ochlik-et-l-americaine-marie-colvin-tues-en-syrie-afp_495408.html
Patf
Very bad news - she was a real intrepid. Also sad for the frenchman. But it seems that being a news reporter in a warzone is even more dangerous now than in the past. More deadly weapons about. Hoddy
To make it worse there seems to be a suggestion that the reporters were targetted.Hoddy
Christine Animal
Hoddy, they wondered the same about another reporter killed there recently, Gilles Jacquier.http://television.telerama.fr/television/le-journaliste-d-envoye-special-gilles-jacquier-tue-en-syrie,76903.php
PaulT
Will admit that I had never before read anything written by her but the Times made her last article available and read it on the BBC News website. Wonderfully written giving the facts and painting the picture without embellishment etc.Can well understand Assad not wanting news to get out.Shame on Russia and China - perhaps they may wish to use the same tactics.
