Flybe credit card charges.

Hi Jond

We are getting seriously off-topic now aren't we ? Anyway I sympathise. A lot of what is done in business is crap, but don't always blame the MBAs. Blame the macho management looking for quick fixes. Often they roll from one role to another peddling some paperback psychology mantra. They may then hire the MBA's (especially the inexperienced ones)  to give a veneer to their fixations.

But short term 'screw the customers' pricing games are unlikely to be on an MBA strategy sheet.

Unless.......

*Strategy to drive everybody to have an airline credit card (with no surcharges obviously ), shades of John Lewis and M&S, who both failed to maintain a monopoly in their stores I think.

*The 'hold baggage surcharges' thing is a long term weaning off of hold baggage; this leaving O'Leary more room to add beds 'underneath', with oxygen as an added extra.

John

p.s. I am a Management Consultant in my day job, I don't have an MBA but might have taught some.

Meanwhile I just booked 8 flights (4 returns) with Easyjet and incurred a £4.95 surcharge (their declared rate is 1.95%). That seems fair.

I know, I know. I shouldn't be so unpleasant. In any case you've got a

point - most of the incidents of gross incompetence I encounted were

from macho types who had gone and got themselves an MBA after the fact

to add a semblence of veracity to their raving mad schemes rather than

the other way around. We in trading were generally spared most of their

wizard wheezes and jolly japes because: a) we were generally making

money, and; b) our management always considered that we were a bunch of

barely house-trained polecats, barrow boys and football hooligans who

would probably bite if they got too close.

Could hold space on a 737 be converted easily to third class passenger accomodation???? You may have hit upon something here...
