woolybanana
Hanging from a beam along a white wall there are two identical bird feeders, a little under two metres apart, both filled with sunflower seeds from the same bag at the same timeThe main clients are t its who are quite voracious. But why do they mostly eat from the right hand one first, before turning their attention to the other? Thoughts welcome, svp.
rock
Well I am no expert, but it's usually to do with cover. They take a seed and go to the nearest bush or tree to eat it. Perhaps one feeder nearer cover than the other.
woolybanana
Good point, rf. mostly they fly directly across the garden to a tree known as the Parliament Tree because so many gather there are chatter. But some do a quick right angled turn into the jungle site next door. alittlebitfrench
You have a point Wooly.I have two bird feeders filled with English nuts. They are in line with each other and both are equal distance to the nearest tree that the tîts fly in from. All the birds fly in from this tree.Guess what, they all go for the right hand feeder. It is funny as I asked myself the same question. Why the right feeder. There is no logical reason for it. woolybanana
Try giving them sunflower seeds, they are much cheaper; buy them in very big bags, keep in big plastic container in a mouse proof space.
Chancer
Give them French LHD drive nuts Birdfoodmiles and they will eat from the other feeder, they are only allowed to eat the English RHD nuts for a maximum of 30 days.
