The Riff-Raff Element
I hesitate to ask this, because I have a horrid feeling that, knowingmy vile daughters, I already know the answer. But my "Roberts" isremarkably uninformative on the matter and I can hardly give them thesatisfaction of getting one over on me. So: is "J'ai une taupe quis'enfuit" a rather vivid euphanism for an urgent need to visit the loo?I need to know before they start rendering it into English for thebenefit of Grandma. Christine Animal
[:P] [:P] [:P] Never heard that one before. But we had a friend with a lot of little dogs she had rescued and who were not always clean and she used to say "Ils poussent jusqu'à la dernière petite limace!" chris pp
No, me neither, but it conjures up some interesting images. I've heard some of the older blokes round here, when it's cold, say "Je vais chercher mon escargot de Bourgogne" when they want a pee.Chris
The Riff-Raff Element
Hmmm...I'm going to have to bite the bullet and enquire of theirteacher, I think. She's (fortunately) highly amused by some of thelittle idioms the girls pass into the French language (e.g. insteadedof announcing "j'ai peté" they inform their equally evil and gigglingclassmates "j'ai marché sur un canard", etc) so hopefully I won't beoffending her too deeply. Christine Animal
Well, they seem to be well into animals anyway! Mabe you should tell them about the limaces and the escargots. [geek]
