Hoddy
A man I know has been accused of this with regard to nine of his employees. Can someone with a better knowledge of French language and law than I have please suggest what he might have done ? I can do a straight translation of course, but can't imagine what he's actually done.
Pierre ZFP
Seems to be a very general definition including verbal and/or physical abuse or not treating everyone equally.see HERE
NormanH
As Pierre says it is a very general term. In addition French people tend to be more sensitive about it in that they have less experience of unprotected workers' rights than British people. It is often used about a bullying management style. EuroTrash
Since it seems to be generalised rather than limited to one person - could for instance imply allowing a "blame culture" to take root, unrealistic expectations, putting people under stress, being unsympathetic / intolerant in some way. Basically, it's a complaint about his management style.
Chancer
What he has done is the ultimate crime against society, created employment and in doing so maybe a few sou for his-self but more likely than not he is the one very worried at the end of each month. As others have said, bullying or harassment.
Hoddy
Thank you for all the illuminating replies. I always thought he was only containing his obnoxiousness with good manners. It's nice to know the radar works as well in France as it does in England.
