Mark
My mum does something like cutting an avocado in half, filling the cavity where the stone was with a vinaigrette dressing, and serving it on a bed of bacon and lettuce. It is delightful, but sounds too simple, such that I think I've forgotten an element of the recipe. Is anyone else familiar with this combo, and if so is it that facile?Merci. If you haven't tried it, do. It's blummin' tasty, cheap, easy to prepare, and looks a bit fancy. Dick Smith
You could try this recipe. It's not quite what you were after but may be nice. I'm not a great lover of avocados, but I do like mangoes.
Christine Animal
You can just serve it with a vinaigrette as you suggest, but a recipe we like is by adding finely chopped garlic and oeufs de lompe (found in the smoked salmon section) to the vinaigrette. Delicious !Shrimps are also good in a vinaigrette added with a bit of mayonnaise in avocado.

5-element
That sounds good, Mark - and certainly not trop facile!!!I love avocadoes and after trying many recipes, now eat them "au naturel" as much as possible. Sometimes, with just a springkling of salt, Tabasco or cayenne, lemon or lime juice, and a touch of olive oil. To my mind, better than the ubiquitous Guacamole. They are also very healthy, full of omega-3s, their oil is "good" fat, the kind that fights bad cholesterol. While in England I used to mix a mashed avocado with cottage cheese for a tasty, high-protein spread.Enjoy!!! Christine Animal
I've never tried them with guacamole (got a jar open in the fridge). But love them with, what noone seemes to like on here, sandwich spread mixed into the vinaigrette !

Clair
Before living in the UK, I'd always eaten avocados just sprinkled with lemon juice and sugar...I love them any which way... except as guacamole, as I simply cannot stand the taste of coriander leaves![+o(]
Teamedup
I love avocados, and they are nice with guacamole, in fact they are good with so many things. I like to put some in prawn cocktail too.Now aren't they supposed to be 'naughty and nice' too,[;-)] if they are, even better reason to eat them. Christine Animal
[:D] [:D] [:D] So they are guacamole ! I thought you meant to put in them, TU you seem to think the same too. I'm just off to try to find my jar to see the ingredients ! [:P]Which sandwich spread, Heinz isn't it ? Haven't had any for years. [:(]
Dick Smith
Every now and then I get a real craving for sandwich spread, or crab paste. I've never thought of putting it in an avocado, though.
Christine Animal
You're darn right, need a magnifying glass to read the ingredients. Avocat 26%, pois, oignons, purée d'ail, etc.Well, it was good without an avocado ! [:D]
