Tarrot
Can anyone suggest where I can get packets of Schwartz Mixed Herbs (the refills)? Our local supermarket seems to have everything except this.
Alex H
Tesco?I use Herbs de Provence for general mixed herb requirements.
Tarrot
Thanks for the thought. I tried to replicate the flavour with a mixture based on H de P - but it's not the same. I thought of Tesco, but it seems to cost a fortune to deliver.
idun
What is in H de P mixed herbs? And what do you use them in?
andyh4
depends where you buy them from as to the exact composition but genrally:RosemaryThymeMarjoram and/or Oregano (same family and similar taste)Plus whatever else might be in the warehouse
Tarrot
Yes, I think the packet I use is mostly marjoram and thyme. I didn't guess rosemary. Perhaps the answer is to mix my own. It's used in our house for Spaghetti Bolognaise.

NormanH
I buy frozen rather than dried herbs from Picard. They have a much fresher taste. Thyme, Tarragon, Basil and Mint are in my freezer at the moment.
idun
Do you know I rarely use fresh herbs. I really really like many dried ones. I honestly cannot tell the difference in flavour when cooking. Ofcourse I can with tell with say herbs in a salad or for garnish, but in cooking, no. In fact basil drives me mad, for that taste I love, the fresh stuff never gives me the flavour I need.
