People living in the Charente Maritime/Royan area of France what is the cheapest price you can pick up a bike for, or if anyone knows of a place that sells bikes second hand or new that would be even better.

Emmaus, near to us, sells secondhand bikes at v reasonable prices. perhaps one near to you does too - the nearest branch to Royan seems to be at 17600 Saint Romain de Benet‎: google info here.

In Saintes there is a cycle shop called Groleaux (think that's the name) near the old hospital. They sell good second-hand bikes and also delivered ours to our house for us FOC. I am sure there must be a cycle shop near to Royan

I also bought one very cheaply at a Brocante but then spent quite a lot having it done-up[blink]

In the summer, the supermarkets often sell them.  They look fine to me, 18 gears, etc.

Cheap as chips; I think under €100 but can't remember the exact price as I wasn't looking for a bike myself.

Decathlon stores are about to have one of their 'Trocathlon' events starting on 13th March.  You can pick up some good stuff at knock down prices.  Be wary of the €100 euro bikes.  You will forever be cursing the gears and brakes on them.

Too true; my OH wouldn't listen to me and insisted on buying one of these and he has had umpteen problems with the gears.
