House name

tuppence

Recommended Posts

Hi,

This is my 1st posting in this section so here goes. I have several ceramic letters which I want to make a house name from. At present they would spell out 'THE STABLE COTTAGE' (from my sisters former house). So can all you French speakers and spellers form a French name using these letters for my French house![:)]

That should keep you all going for a while! [:D]

cheers

tuppence

p.s Please keep it clean!!!!!

As French people don't 'do' house names like the English, it's best to stick to your native language. You can have Castle Beat Ghetto, or perhaps Eat That Select Bog might be more appropriate. On the other hand there is Best Let Goat Cheat (or Teach), while Bog Chattel Estate sounds ideal for a French house.

actually, perhaps it's not the end of the thread[blink]

cat and Will used all the letters in your house name........... and predictably, used english, whereas you have asked for it in french?

if you just take a few letters then you have loads more options..............here's my first try: Lèche bottes  OK[geek] not a house name, but LOL, isn't that what your after[blink]

Well, poor tuppence.................it's taken just two hours for the 'mods' to spoil your thread[Www]

all you have to do now is check out the anagram tools (in english and french) and you'll have all the different variations you need......

happy house naming[geek]

Tuppence

As another post said, it's true that the French don't go in for house names.  For example, where I live, I don't know of any house that has a name, even though we are in a village in the countryside.

I named my French house, Villa Xxxxxxx, after my mother because it was her inheritance that funded the purchase.  (But I would rather have my mother back again than the house.)  Anyway, I only use the name amongst friends and family in conversation and don't use it in the postal address at all.

Thanks for the English and French anagram sites - they've gone into my favourites.

Well that went down a treat, didn't it?    I only wanted to use up the ceramic letters with something that was a leetle beet French if you know what I mean. However, after seeing the results of the anagram sites I think I will stick to 'LA BEST COTTAGE' as I think it is anyway!!

thanks for the fun folks[:P]

Maybe they don't do house names, but there are thousands of 'lieux dits', usually a farm or group of buildings.  Like our house is called "La Basse Cour" and another house down the road is called "L'Aubepine", another "L'Oisellerie", etc.

but cassis,

your not using the grey matter[blink] just the generator

'rushes ouest' is much better[Www]

True.  It's mainly gibberish, isn't it?  Or maybe it's Breton.
