woolybanana
Last year I planted lupins for the first time in years and they made a spectacular display, except for the moment when the dogs decided to play fight right on top of them. However, after the winter, only one plant seems to have survived, the others having apparently rotted in the ground. I did not have any idea that this patch was too damp for them.Does any gardener have any idea whether they should be treated as annuals or perennials, whether this rotting is fairly usual or whether I should just let little Bird plant them as she has very green fingers indeed? Gardengirl
My lupins are perennials, which just keep going but hate being waterlogged. They love full sun. There are also annual lupins, so maybe that's what you bought.
woolybanana
Thank you, GG, I think it might be waterlogging over winter; I am at the bottom of a valley so there might be a fair bit of damp in winter. I'll try them elsewhere in the garden.
