It’s mentioned in the Nouvel Observateur and they say in the last fifteen years the number of chambres d’hôtes in France has gone from 4,500 to nearly 30,000. But the type of people running them has changed. Ten years ago it was elderly people with a large house who, after the children had left, tried to get a little money coming in. Today it’s younger couples who change for a new life. Guy and Brigitte invested a million euros in three luxury bungalows on an island near Tahiti… There is another programme on tonight which should be very interesting on France 3. We have always liked « Strip-tease ». I don’t know how they get people to act so naturally and forget the camera.« La Belle et les Bêtes » is going to be on four weeks running for an hour, starting tonight. La Belle is Modestine from Madagascar who married a French farmer. Her husband died accidentally and Modestine has been fighting to be able to keep her farm « la ferme des bonshommes ». Les bêtes are Modestine’s cows, but also the « brochette » of men around her... starting with her father-in-law who would like to see her go back to where she came from and tries all he can to get her out of the farm. But Modestine is determined not to be manipulated and keep her rights. Modestine who drives the tractor as well as she dances is, they say, without a doubt, our favourite cathodic heroin of Summer 2006.They say « La Belle et les Bêtes » est une chronique de la vie rurale comme on en voit rarement à la télé. Real rural life in France, it should be fun!« Strip-tease » 23h05 France 3 tonight and the following three Sundays.La belle Modestine et les bêtes. ( Strip tease ) A ne pas manquer !!L'excellent magazine Strip tease diffuse dès ce dimanche soir sur France 3 une nouvelle "saga" : "La belle et les bêtes". Quatre épisodes de 60 minutes à déguster hebdomadairement à raison d'un épisode par semaine. Une alternative aux séries policières diffusées à la même heure sur TF1 et France 2.La réalisatrice Marie Ka a filmé les péripéties d'une Malgache, jeune veuve et apprentie fermière...L'histoire commence avec un drame : Modestine, ravissante Malgache, a épousé un jeune agriculteur français. Ce dernier avait passé une annonce dans Le chasseur français, à laquelle elle a répondu. Après un an de suivi téléphonique, il l'invite en France, puis finit par la demander en mariage. Quelques années plus tard, la voilà veuve. Plutôt que de s'en retourner à Madagascar, elle décide de grimper sur le tracteur et de continuer d'exploiter la ferme. Mais son beau-père ne l'entend pas de cette oreille et aimerait bien la renvoyer d'où elle vient. Mais attention ! Modestine n'est pas seulement jolie : elle est intelligente et volontaire...C'est par le biais d'un ami, maire d'un village voisin, que la réalisatrice a obtenu un premier rendez-vous avec Modestine. Au début de la rencontre, Modestine n'était jamais sortie de la ferme. Deux mois après le décès de son mari, elle vivait seule, dans le chagrin du deuil. La réalisatrice lui a expliqué son travail en lui montrant deux de ses films. Après visionnage, Modestine a accueilli positivement l'idée. Marie Ka est venue durant six mois, au premier semestre 2005, quasi quotidiennement. Vous verrez au fil des "épisodes" combien Modestine insuffle une pulsion de vie magique à son entourage...Dimanche 16 juillet, France 3, 23h00. I very much enjoyed watching it.Brian, the English postman, said he worked seventy hours a week in England and his wife in another job, sixty hours a week. That seems enormous. They have got a lovely house here, hope it all works out. What beautiful bedrooms the last girl, the couple with the baby, in the Tarn did. They all undertook tremendous work and in a very short time.It's on again tomorrow night at 23.50 if anyone wants to see it, but I suppose you have seen so many progammes on British TV.
