It well illustrates how easy it is to get up to mischief with such sites.

I suppose one dissatisfied customer could one way or another put in so many bad reports about somewhere that people lose many of their prospective  customers and eventually business.

I have to say that I was put off an hotel in Rome that I had booked because of the things people had reported about it, reviews I had only found after I had booked. I cancelled and we ended up in a corker of a place and far better placed. How poor the original hotel was, I don't know. I would love the reviews to always be honest.

Very true. But not everyone agrees on what make a good restaurant. I once overheard a conversation when some one was describing a newly open place.

Oh, it's very good. The food is poor but they give you large portions!
