Lori Posted July 30, 2004 Share Posted July 30, 2004 And just FYI, the frottis tests only for cervical cancer. Bacterial cells may show, but, in other words, it is not a culture. If you want a culture test to include testing for bacteria and/or STD's, you need to mention this to the doctor at the time of the pap smear (frottis). He or she will gladly take the swab at the same time as the cells are taken for the frottis. However, don't assume that this is done without asking.
