minnie
The doctor prescribed me some capsules today for a digestive disorder but said I would have to pay for them at the chemists. Anyone got any idea why this is so?
Chezstevens
It is how it is done. Get prescription and pay for it. If you have top-up then you get some back.

Chrissie
Sorry, but it seems to me that the first two replies are a bit basic. If Minnie has a registered Medecin traitant (and maybe a mutuelle) she would be used to getting medication at her usual chemist without paying anything up front. In that case, if she has to pay for these pills, they are not accepted as reimbursable, and there would be presumably a reason why the doctor thinks these particular pills are the best for her condition. If they are very expensive, she would be wise to phone him and ask why these are required.Chrissie (81)
Albert the InfoGipsy
I have 100% reimbursement for a bowel cancer, but when I left hospital one of the preparations my doctor prescribed to 'faciliter le transit' was not reimbursable. It was only a couple of euros, anyway, so I didn't worry.
minnie
Thanks everyone - Chrissie hit the nail on the head. The stuff I had I think was more homeopathic
idun
I have had many surprises over the years of things not being reimburseable or having been taken off the list, including something that was an important treatment for me. Trouble is that the Drs do not always mention it.
