So, what's the incidence of skin cancer in France?

[quote user="Patf"]Is there any evidence that using sun protection cream prevents skin cancer? I thought it was just to avoid sunburn.

I have just been motivated to look at the Wikipedia entry on skin cancer (here). I would guess that it is probably reliable.

It would seem that the answer to your question is not as clear cut as you would hope!

I remember going on holiday with a group of friends in the mid 1960s, and our sun cream of choice was Brylcreem! Not sun SCREEN, but a way of ensuring we got as brown as possible in the time available...

During a trip to Australia a few years back, I noticed that all kids on the beach wore top to toe beach suits, with only head, hands and feet exposed.

Sunbathe sensibly BUT do remember we all need some sunshine for healthy bones.

I have recently heard of a small child in U.K. who has rickets! She is from a middle / upper class English family that spend a month every summer in France. Small child is usually kept out of the sun and covered from head to toe
