Failing Photo editor

I have Windows XP and use Microsoft Photo editor, in the last week it will just not open

It doesn't matter how I click, double click, go to the link etc - nothing !

Any ideas?

Hi Russethouse,

You haven't by any chance recently installed MS Office 2003 have you?, if so the Microsoft Office Picture Manager supercedes the old Photo Editor.

As far as I know ....I suppose its what I use most, so really notice when it goes wrong.....

Do you still have the disks? You could try deleting and reinstalling it.

Hi Russethouse,

Windows XP has a function called “System Restore”, which allows you to put your computer back to the way it was working (correctly) on a given date – basically it tracks changes made to programmes and allows you to “undo” changes.  So if you have added any programmes since Photo Editor stopped working, it will remove them, user files will not be removed.

“System Restore” is in:  Start | All Programs | Accessories | System tools – just follow the instructions, and choose a “restore point” date when you know Photo Editor worked OK.  You can  try another earlier one or revert back to today’s setup if it doesn’t fix the problem.

Yippee - it worked....it took ages and seemed to have got stuck at one time but I persevered and voila............its back.
