Chrissie
This morning I suddenly found that the game I played yesterday would no longer run - "unable to create 3D scene", and the 3D screensavers came up with "could not find any compatible Direct 3D devices". When I ran a DirectX diagnostic the 3D abilities were greyed out.I re-installed the NVidia driver, with no effect, and then I reinstalled DirectX - ditto. What else can I do? As far as I am aware, we have changed NOTHING since yesterday.........HELP!!!! Chrissie (81)

Chrissie
I tried a System Restore first of all, and achieved absolutely nothing, the wretched thing swearing that there had been no changes since the year dot. However, I finally DID solve the problem by changing the Hardware Acceleration setting - why this should have changed itself at all is a mystery, but I'm glad the problem has gone away, for the present anyway! Thanks for the suggestion.Chrissie (81)
Pierre ZFP
Is it an ATI graphics card by any chance? Whilst I think the card is very good, I have had it unexpectedly change my settings for me. I have 2 screens with the card set to screen spanning, sometimes it 'forgets' and will only give me 1 screen untill I set it again
tel
Hi Pierre,
Is it an ATI graphics card by any chance?
I don't believe so, in Chrissies first post she mentions re-installing the NVidia drivers, ATI use 'Radeon' chipsets on their cards.
