French nationality through my grandfather got "carte de combattant volontaire de la résistance"

My grandfather worked for french army in the second world war and he got "carte de combattant volontaire de la résistance" card and now my father and myself are trying to get the french nationality .My grandfather enjoyed french benefits like old age pension and other pensions and he did claim for the injury which happened to him during second world war but before the claim amount arrived my grandfather passed away .

till 1979 he enjoyed all the french government benefits so that "50 years law (loss of nationality by disuse)" will not impact us I guess . Is my guessing right .We already consulted one french nationality consultant he said ok to get nationality for us before but due to the above said law he said some problems are there.This 50 years count will start from 1979 or when ? that is my confusion

I guess the person who hold the nationality should use it in the past fifty years otherwise it will expire Am I right .Please clarify this ?

We are having the following list of evidences 

1) My grandfather did "renonciation" formalities. when I asked about it to my father he told that it is a method of giving family name in France. That is my grandfather's name is radjagobalou radjou and in my father's name also this family name radjou is there

2) During 11th November (it is something special for france I guess) he got Rs 50 for each of his children till his death

3) He got old age pension from french government till his death (till 1979)

4) He applied some claim for his war time injury but didn't get that amount since he died before that

5) He did Immatriculation since he born in british colonial part in India and settled in French India


Please guide can i get the french nationality

I am about to contact them now .Some weeks before I did contact one lawyer in India who will give guidance for french nationality .He told that the case is a valid one and since my grandfather's nationality has not been used for the past 50 years (Loss of nationality by disuse) and so that will get expired .

My doubt is my grandfather got old age pension and other benefits of a french national till 1979 (till his death) so he did use the nationality and so it will not get expired .Am I right ?

Getting a pension and certain other benefits from France is not in itself directly related to holding French nationality. For instance, these days anyone who has been resident in France, worked in France and paid into the system in France is entitled to receive a pension and benefits from France, and will continue to receive them if they move abroad, but that does not mean they are French citizens. That is different from your grandfather's case because he was granted French nationality, but I suspect you will find that nationality is a separate issue from receiving a pension. If receiving benefits from France was your grandfather's only connection with France, I don't think this would prevent his nationality from expiring after 50 years. I could be wrong, I hope for your sake I am and by all means give it a try, but don't get your hopes up too high.
