Well I've not seen that before.

I've noticed that sometimes a sat picture can degrade more *before* the rain actually starts to come down.   Inspection out of the window reveals a filthy grey cloud in the part of the sky pertaining to the satellite affected.   I suppose that while the rain is still in the cloud the water is more "concentrated".

Particularly noticeable on analogue when you can "grade" the problem more accurately.
