Benjamin
I accepted an automatic update last week and ever since Firefox is crashing three or four times every day. Anyone else having the problem and do any techy persons know the solution?
Clair
Which version are you on?I have version 3.0.3 and have no problem.
Benjamin
Thanks. Where might I find the version number?I've just checked for updates and it says there are no new updates vailable. I should also have added that I'm running it on two machines and getting the same crashes on both.Looking in the help files it seems to be saying that the version number should be shown below the Firefox name but mine doesn't although I do use Google as my opening page. Cat
Are you using Norton Benjamin?http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=ro&forumId=1&comments_parentId=185088Or Google Desktop search? http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/3.0.3/releasenotes/Users who have older installations of Google Desktop Search may experience crashes on startup; reinstalling Google Desktop Search fixes the problem (bug 401513) There are some troubleshooting tips there too. Clair
To find the version number, click on Help, then About. The version number is shown just under the name.

Benjamin
Thanks Clair. Version 3.0.3 it is.Thanks for the links Cat. I'll try them and see if it's there.I'm non-techy but I wouldn't go anywhere near Norton from all the stories I've read [:D]
Martin963
I turned off automatic updates a long time ago. They're nothing but a d****d nuisance. Stick with what works.Having said that, my Firefox loading process slowed right down on the computer in France, back in the summer. It may have been the Adobe add on, but it's a right pain.I swopped to Firefox some years ago as everyone said how awful IE was, but I'm beginning to wonder whether to try Opera (is it?) Clair
I did use to have Opera on my previous laptop and it was fine, but have not downloaded it on this newer one. There's also the new google browser Chrome, but have not really played with it. Jotty
I use both Firefox and Opera. I have Firefox 3 0 3 and Opera 9.6Opera is faster and lighter, but I like some of the Firefox add ons
Mr Coeur de Lion
I use Opera 95% of the time. Firefox 4% and IE 1% as a last resort. At the end of the day, I want to surf the net and add ons only serve to hinder this process I find.Opera is nice, light and quick, although it doesn't support every web site, that's when I switch to another browser on those minor times.R. Clair
In Opera, how do you block unwanted content? I can see a "block content" option when I click on GoogleAds, but I cannot seem to get them to disappear... [8-)]

Gyn_Paul
I find Opera doesn't like the Living France web site too much: it's ok for an ordinary plain reply, but it's a real pain if you 'quote' reply.I like Firefox, especially the add-oon Accuweather on the bottom line. Very useful (although haviing said that it currently says 'rain' and it's actually snow/sleet).p
anniefromwales
Usually use Firefox/Opera but recently downloaded the new Chrome to give it a whirl. Tried it for internet banking and my site said I should 'update to a browser such as IE or MF/f' !!!
