powerdesal
Given my recent comments on another thread about the high cost of the internet bill here on 3G, can someone advise if VOIP is very 'internet hungry'.......before I start trying to use it for conversations to France. Pierre ZFP
Yes, very.As a bit of an experiment, last month I made a Skype-to-Skype call on my smartphone. It was about 30 minutes, took up around 10 Mb and cost €22 in data charges !!! Never again !!!
powerdesal
I have a 10GB limit per month before extra charges apply, if I save 2GB for normal internet use I can use 8GB for voice, at 10MB for 30 mins that should give me 400 hrs of voice !!!!!!!! Cant be, I must have a few zeros wrong.
Pierre ZFP
How do you get 10Gb per month???I thought French ISPs had a Hissy fit over 3Gb, and as for 3G, they seem to measure it in Mb.

Pierre ZFP
Well Skype will charge you 1.7 cents a minute to a landline I suppose or nothing to another Skype user.Won't you be stung with huge Roaming charges?
powerdesal
I would be using yahoo messenger voice from my laptop to the PC at home, both on messenger of course. No roaming involved. I am concerned that the PC in France, on FT broadband connection will somehow incur charges for upload/download, although a landline broadband connection there should be unlimited.
