bixy
A friend needs to convert a Word document to PDF. I have never done this so do not know what to advise him. I believe a software download is necessary. Any help much appreciated.Patrick
cooperlola
To read PDF files is free. To create them, afaik, you need to purchase the Adobe software. You probably have Adobe reader and if so this should give you a link to the website. Right click on your Adobe icon. EDIT : In fact having done this myself just this minute, I see that there is a free trial version so you should be able to do this quite easily and for nothing. Danny
No, No, No [:D]download PDF creator which is free and you can create PDFs from any office document by selecting PDF creator as the printer and then print. It then converts and saves the doc as a PDFhttp://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/there is also a good free PDF reader called Foxit reader - much simpler than Adobehttp://download.cnet.com/Foxit-Reader/3000-10743_4-10313206.html?part=dl-116442&subj=dl&tag=button/Danny
Clarkkent
If your friend has Microsoft Office 2007, a free download from the Microsoft website will add the ability to create .pdf files in Word. When added it becomes another "save as" option.

anglofrenchcommunication
If your friend wants to email me the document I will do a pdf file for him and email it back to him. It might be quicker!! Rachel
Pierre ZFP
Just don't get a PDF file confused with Gary Glitter who is similar sounding but quite different.
Bugsy
Surely if you want to convert a 'Word' document into a PDF file you just click in MS Word 'Save As - File Format - PDF'. Pierre ZFP
I think that is only a standard option with Word 2007 and later. Earlier versions don't give you that option.
bixy
I found a free programme called 'doPDF' - only 3mb; downloaded and installed this on my friend's computer and it worked just fine. A note of caution, when it installs, it makes itself the default printer but you can easily change this after.Patrick
Martin963
Open Office also gives you the option to convert stuff to pdf.
