Those Freenauts amongst you may be interested to learn that all the pay per view channels are currently on free access for I assume the Christmas period.

Last year I did not realise untill too late but I was lucky enough to discover it late yesterday, another bonus for those who dont speak good French is the fact that on the film channels most of the films carry the VO soundtack which can be selected, whilst I prefer to watch in French it was a pleasant respite for me as much is usually lost in the translation/dubbing. This also applies to many of the specialist programs, the sailing channel for instance.

It was my only christmas present but a well appreciated one, especially jus before the abonnements go up with the hausse de TVA.

I can  never get the VO option to work, which is a pain because I hate watching English or American films dubbed by the dreadful voices.

Is this because I watch on my computer rather than on a TV?

I have a similar problem that TF1 doesn't work unless watched on TV, a nuisance when there are sporting events on

I just watch it on the Tv from the freebox HD and touch the info/guide button on the remote and then is a menu option at the top for languages, this gives you the option of French or English although often it will continue in French anyway, on Arte the English is usually German which kind of makes sense.

Most of these currently free channels do have an English soundtrack, nealry all the films if the VO was English and many of the specialist programs, even some that were French produced have an English soundtrack but in that instance I find the French VO much easier to understand.

Whether it be French dubbed over English or English dubbed over French when the original parole is audible behind the dubbing my poor old brain does not know which one to follow!
