Lip Brittany Spaniel and Others

Recommended Posts

As mentioned on another thread we got eleven year old Lip out of the Niort refuge where he had been left by the family after his master died.  He is now safe with us, but would obviously be far happier if he could find a new family life and this would also make room for us to rescue another.

He is very quiet and well behaved, never complains.  But he gets all pleased when he sees the collar and lead, probably thinking he is going to be taken home.  He walks quietly on the lead is fine in the car and is really a "no trouble at all" dog.  He's a beautiful Epagneul Breton and very lively for his age.  He still has a lot to give to someone.

At Niort this one was next on the black list as it is a while he has been there, but they are ready to wait another week

They say he is young and very lively, but a very friendly dog.  He would probably be fine with a little firm loving care.

Amongst the others at Niort there is a Yellow Labrador "Uppercut" and three young pup ones, a Red Setter type cross, a three month old female Setter cross and a very young Spaniel (Epagneul).

They can be seen here, click also on the Trouvés on the right hand side  http://tinyurl.com/y7a6fp

We have had a couple of enquiries thanks to these posts since the rescue of Atlas the Groenendael, so if we save a few more, I'll have a big [:)]

Many thanks.

Hello Chrissie,

No, the black chap doesn't have a name as he was found.  Anyone have a suggestion for one?

You said how rewarding it can be to give an elderly dog a home and I was just looking at the SPA Cognac site to put a link to ours.  It looks like a very kind refuge.  There is the story of little Gweeny who died this Summer after spending her whole life there.  Then if you click on the Histoire de Toto on the left hand side you will see the story of this fourteen year old dog who had spent many years at the refuge with noone bothering about him, seeing others come and go, until not long ago an English family living in the area wanting to rehome an older dog came and gave old Toto a new life.  It's made me go all teary eyed.  They say, nous saluons nos amis anglais who often come to the refuge to adopt a dog.

Merci les anglais !  [:)]       http://spa.cognac.free.fr/

Oh Christine, what can I say, just had a look at the website. What a heartbreaking story [:'(]!

I would love to be able to rescue a few dogs particularly after losing one of ours recently [:'(]. Unfortunately, it is impossible at the moment. I just had a look at the S.P.A. here in Dordogne and it looks as if it is full of unwanted and discarded hunting dogs.[:(]

Here's hoping someone will give Lip and the poor young black dog a loving home.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well, I wish I could find someone for him, I managed to get them to accept to wait another week.  I nearly called him Reggie WJT, but then realised there's already a Reggie on our site, so finally it's Beanz.  We are doing all we can to get him out of there, but cannot take him as I already brought the eight/nine year old Setter Gordon female back last week, I've called her Lorna, she's very gentle.

I went into Beanz's kennel with him and confirm he is very friendly and lively.  He needs someone quickly.  He's a beautiful dog.
