In the below summary I assume you are entering France from the UK and that your dogs have been resident in the UK for longer than 6 months.

My understanding is that you need a Pet Passport. To get that you will first need the dog(s) microchipped, then need Rabies (and then wait 30 days). To enter France you do not require blood tests, etc. Also, in France the other “standard” vaccinations are not required by law. However, in practice everybody does the standard set and rabies (often in a single combined injection). However, if you want to entry the UK from e.g. France, there are additional requirements, like blood tests to check the level of rabies immunity acquired, then a 6 month wait (after the successful blood sample was taken). The blood test lasts forever provided you maintain the rabies vaccination schedule. Also, to enter UK from e.g. France your dog needs to be treated for ticks and tapeworms by a vet (recorded on special forms or in Pet Passport) between 24 and 48 hours before check-in with the transport company (e.g. ferry) – every trip.

Also be aware that France has Piroplasmose – a disease carried by ticks which can be fatal to dogs with a few days. It can be treated if you are aware of the symptoms and go to the vet immediately. Ticks are relatively common (as is Piroplasmose in some areas) so be sure you treat your dogs against ticks regularly (e.g. Frontline every month). Most tick & flea treatments last a lot shorter time against ticks than fleas (often only one month).

This is my understanding. Do check-out requirements with your vet and DEFRA (http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalh/quarantine/index.htm).
seems like grief to me, might have to give lurchers the bullit and get some more when we gets ther. Tah
You'd have a job getting lurchers in France, there aren't any.  So you might end up shooting yourself in the foot, pardon the pun.  Its also illegal to course with dogs in France so if you were thinking of working them you'd be out of luck.

Experiment over. Well all you who replied to this and other posts by me passed the stereotypical prat test with flying colours.

You assumed that a hapless irish traveller coming over to live in France was a thief and in general a sponge on soceity. You also assumed he was stupid.

This should teach you that things aren't always as they seem and that assumption is the mother of all f***ups.

Old Padraig never stood a chance with the English aristocracy who have already made the move to France. He was even accused of being old outcast. Outcast probably has more moral fibre than most of the posters on this forum put together.

People on this forum should stop judging others and the decisions that they make for their own valid reasons.

A bientot.

Sorry Paddy, but I think the only PRAT here is yourself. I just actually went through the replies to your ridiculous posts, and the people who put straight replies to your obvious windups were nothing but helpful and informative. And what's this tosh about the aristocracy? There is nothing as patronising as a champagne socialist.

Of course he did Furrynix. That is part of what he came here to do, rather than this nonsensical idea of an X-periment. And just in case he has not got the message which has been ringing loud and clear in nearly every single response, I'll repeat again what I have said in response to his ridiculous claim (god, even i'm getting bored now)

He took a full 6 minutes to compose his first post.

On June 2nd 2005, at 08.46 I posted this in the Mushroom Wellies Resurrected thread, in the Postbag section. The topic was started by someone else in response to Padraigs posts.

'......It's the low level cunning of these people. They choose this type of persona (worzel, jamaican, traveller), deliberately. After a bit someone gets annoyed and responds

Then they can come back in another persona (or even their own) and say, oh you all think you're so PC and here you are being horrible to this poor downtrodden person who asked for your help. It's designed to sow discord, and to waste the mods time'.

Padraig, you must be off your Trolley with frustation by now, knowing everyone knew and was laughing at your silly trolling. With an ego the size of a planet, this must hurt.
