Kitty
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good breakdown company (like the RAC) in France?
Suandpete
Our normal car insurance ( with MMA) includes breakdown cover in Europe(and Switzerland - not in the EU).... I believe this isstandard with French car insurance.

Cjlaws
I agree with Su - French car insurance normally includes breakdown cover. There is also the ACO http://www.autoclub.fr/club/pages/serv_aide_routiere.html which includes a get-you -home service. I don't have personal experience of their service, although I am a member. La Vette
As the previous responder states, it comes with your insurance. You don't get to pick and choose, just accept it, in the UK you have to pay for separate cover. The breakdown also covers recovery and repairs in any European country. I am with Groupama insurance, don't know the name of their recovery service.
Cassis
As everybody says, it's normal for it to be in your car insurance. I'm guessing cj only joined the ACO to get Le Mans tickets etc. [:D]
Chris Head
This question has got my fried brain cells churning.I've got a list of chainsaw carvers worldwide, we all agree to accomodate and help out another carver if the 'phone goes, it even goes as far as free holidays and work opportunities, basically I could travel the world and probably make a profit! Why not the same network for Brits travelling in France? I know that if anyone picked up the 'phone to me and asked for help I'd be out there like a shot, I'd tow, help arrange repairs, accommodation and language problems or whatever.I'm serious about this, it's a good idea.Chris
Just Katie
That is a WUNDAFUL idea Chris but what if a damsel in distress rung a fellow brit and a lunatic with a chainsaw turned up?
Chris Head
Well I hope she'd be gentle with me!05 55 62 02 54, in the centre of France, about 1/2 hr off the A20, I forget which junction but I think the intersection is the N145 direction Gueret.Chris
