dave21478 Posted July 26, 2009 Share Posted July 26, 2009 Its always hard to tell from the limited facts of a newspaper article, but it sounds to me like the chap concerned was rifting the poor car with no mechanical sympathy, making what may have been a minor problem into a major failure.As for the hire companies charging for clutches - normal wear and tear should obviously be covered by themselves, but since hire cars are rarely kept beyond a couple of years, if the clutches are regularly failing so soon, something needs to be done to disuade people from mistreating them.
