Christine Animal
Radars that calculate your average speed over a certain distance. [6]Apparently they already exist in other countries including the UK, so you probably already know them.http://fr.cars.yahoo.com/22012010/321/et-maintenant-les-radars-troncons-0.html
sid
Yes, they've been around in the UK for several years and are used frequently on roadwork stretches of the motorway network. Théière
Yep.The A13 in East London is just about to get more of them fitted and it means.......11 speed cameras per mile on that stretch of road [:@] Without cruise control on your car you are bound to rack up the odd three points unless you have an average speed indicator to warn you if you are over between any two points. Sunday Driver
I've never managed to rack up the odd three points despite not having such luxuries as cruise control or an average speed indicator. So, where have been going wrong......[:(]

Tony F Dordogne
And I know of at least two people who have already been reported for speeding by G men at payage where their time between payages could only be acheived if they had been speeding so all the French may be doing is replacing people with technology. Dog
I thought the question was 'What's Next'.A black box recorder in the car.Norwhich Union Insurance company tried to introduce a pay as you go insurance on a daily/mileage data using a GPS fitted to the car. This would record time, date, speed and position - obviously the fed's loved the idea. I think they were offering it as a cost saving idea to encourage people to use it and Big Brother would sneak in by the back door.In USA hire cars have already had black box recorders. In my local town in UK we discovered that only one lane of a dual carriage was 'Specced' and put up signs saying so - the fed's didn't like this. Théière
In the UK changing lanes before each camera was the play it safe idea as the software could not track lane changes
Dog
I think the latest ones are cross wired. Some people find it amazing how many chocolate wrappers blowing around stick to number plates. It's worth checking daily that this has not happened to you as a model citizen. Spanish motorcyclists attach coloured hankerchiefs to their rear indicators and they unfortunately flap across the number plate - this is illegal and cannot be condoned. PaulT
My BIL was talking about buying a good speed detector. I told him my car already has one - it is called a speedometer
