[/quote]It's more a question of whether you trust yourself or have a knowledgeable friend. Do you know what you're looking at? Can you spot a dud? If not then I'd personally rather buy off a forecourt from a dealer and take a warranty to be safe.At the very least investigate the model of car you want and find out what its weak points are so you know what to look for in advance.
