Car leasing in france

good afternoon,

have had a request for info from friends in USA visiting us during the summer.

They would like to lease a car from  ie Renault for about 4-6 weeks, do you know if this is possible in France.

I know that it is possible to have a short lease in the USA, but have no idea about in Europe.

Does anyone have any idea?  please

This is not really long duration, but there will be discounts. You need to search for Location Moyenne durée or location LMD. Most major hire companies (e.g AVIS) and some of the "long duration" lease companies will do leases on a per month basis.

I'm told by people from USA who lease a car in France every year for a month that it can be done from about something like 17 days plus, at least for some of the major brands. They usually lease direct from the car company, rather than from a car hire company. They recommend it to everybody, as they get a brand new car without 'the shift' as they call it, and the fuel of their choice. If hiring a car the agreement normally says they'll try to arrange for an automatic if one is available, but it very often isn't even from quite large hire places at airports/TGV stations etc.

Thank you, friends have managed to sort out a 2 month lease with travel anywhere in Europe and about 6000 kilometes .
