Dishwasher not filling ??

The dish washer (a Bosch SGS43E02) suddenly seems to not be filling up and, as a consequence,  freezes in the middle of  a programme. I've checked the water in and water out and they're both working and unclogged.

If you pour a basin of water in by hand it kicks in again and washes, then drains - obviously this isn't an ideal way to use it !

Is there some kind of float switch thing that causes the dishwasher to think that it is full already (or something) If so, how easy is it to access and/or repair........

cheers,

They have a device on the end of the input pipe which is designed to prevent the machine from flooding eg if there is a split in the pipe between it and the machine. I'm not sure how this works but if it failed (by thinking that it is sensing too high a pressure drop or flow rate or whatever it senses) then it could prevent the machine from filling.

Dishwashers are not normally like washing machines: they don't "Fill".

They work on the basis of re-cycling the water (normally) and spraying to clean the dirties.

If you open the door in the middle of a cycle, there is little water actually inside: it should not flood out all over the floor!

It could be the solenoid valve on the water inlet: these can stick or die.

You can check it with a meter (for continuity in the coil) or even connect (carefully!) to 230 volts mains and see if it actuates.

Thereafter it needs digital kit to analyse.
