Is there a way to establish the build spec of double glazing?

We ordered a made-to-measure double door +

window with double-glazing from a local artisan. We specified to the

artisan (and it was included on their devis) that we wanted the glazing

to have the anti-sun / heat film which reduces sun-heat into the

south-facing room (faible émissivité) and an argon gas filled gap

between the panes. It’s a big window and we wanted high spec.

For several reasons (the order manufacturing description from the

glazing factory which was stuck to the glass being the main one) we

don’t think the glazing has been supplied with either the film or the

argon-filled gap.

We’ve asked for a copy of the artisan’s order to the glazing

company confirming the specification of the glazing and a copy of the

manufacturing order / or delivery note generated by the glazing company

confirming what was manufactured.

In over 2 months, our artisan hasn’t supplied either and the glazing

company won’t (not unreasonably) give the information direct to us. The

first invoice from the artisan did not include the film / argon detail;

when we asked him about it, he produced a second invoice which did

include the film / argon detail.

Does anyone know of any way – some form of test – which will establish

the likely specification of these double glazed units? The artisan has

done a superb carpentry job building the window itself – we’re very

pleased with that - but equally, we want to be sure we are paying for

exactly what we specified on the devis.

Any ideas anyone?
