What is Scemelles?

Recommended Posts

I have received a quote for work to be done on erecting new rooms (framework, partitions etc) and included are 2 times:

Scemelles R70 and Scemelles R48

Can anyone let me know what this refers to?

I have translated the rest and obviously can get back to him but this might save time so thanks.

Normally called "rails" when they are used top and bottom of steel framed partitions which in turn locate the vertical "montants".

If used just on the floor they could be called semelles as in sole plate.

The R70's are usually used for higher cloisons or where more rigidity or insulation is required.

Again thanks for the quick response. Perhaps it is a local spelling!!!

My ceilings are quite high as I want the ceiling to be above the beams (about 2m 80) so what you say about the base plate and cloisins seems to fit with this.

I am learning all the time.
