Chancer Posted October 19, 2007 Share Posted October 19, 2007 Normally called "rails" when they are used top and bottom of steel framed partitions which in turn locate the vertical "montants".If used just on the floor they could be called semelles as in sole plate.The R70's are usually used for higher cloisons or where more rigidity or insulation is required. Perhaps it is a local spelling!!!My ceilings are quite high as I want the ceiling to be above the beams (about 2m 80) so what you say about the base plate and cloisins seems to fit with this.I am learning all the time.
