trees
One of our properties has a large open fireplace in the kitchen, into which we intend fitting an old "range, a small one, just for it's looks and some background warmth. The chimney is large and open.Immediately behind it is a barn that we have converted into various rooms, the one behind the kitchen is sa large dining room, 4.5m x 9.5m.The wife has the idea that she can buy yet another small woodburner, the pot-bellied type, freestanding, and lead IT'S flue up, throufg the wall and into the same chimney. Before I let her start looking for another stove, are there any rules that expressly forbid this? Both flues would be extende up said chimney with stainless flexible liners.
Anton Redman
If the liners go all the way to the roof and the gases from the fires never meet if the chimney it should work. If the liners stop after a couple of metres it will be horrible with smoke entering the room via the weaker fire.
trees
Cheers for that Anton......so no EC/French regs to stop me, so long as I do it right?
Rob Roy
We have a woodburner in our cantou, and a woodburning stove next door in the kitchen with the flue going through the wall straight up the cantou chimney. We have no problems with either.
trees
Thankyou, just what the wife wanted to hear. Now she can spend on ANOTHER stove and guess who's fitting it?
woolybananasbrother
BUT, whatever happens, do not put the flue from a central heating boiler in the same chimney as a wood burner (or vice versa of course). My heating engineer says it is a definite nono.
