EnglishBadger
HiWe have had a quote for 13,000euros for a new combi boiler, 8 new rads, pipes etc, a new bath, taps, shower and connection to the new gas tank. Some of the walls are approx 1m thick aswell. Does this sound expensive to you?The cottage at the moment has no heating and we had two proper companies round and they both said to go with gas. Ron Avery
It really does not matter whether others think its a good price, what do you think? If you have any doubts get another quote the same as you would in the UK.For what its worth if that is supply and fit, with a bath and shower thrown in sounds like a real bargain to me. My C/H boiler replacement was nearly 6k€ alone three years ago.

Gluestick
Back to lengths of string, once more.............All depends on the specification of the boiler, rads, control systems, TRVs, sanitary ware etc.Boilers range from very simple to very expensive.Find two local plombieres: find satisfied clients: if possible, look at finished work.Ask for recommendations in the Mairie; local bars etc.As Sir Henry Royce said, "The quality remains; long after the price is forgotten."Ask for fully detailed estimates - Devis - expect to pay for the one you don't accept. It takes considerable time for any artisan to compile a fully detailed estimate, which is a contract binding on both he and you.Make sure you have informed the artisan of everything you want: DON'T Say, "And while you are here could you do this and this!"Fatal: he can then charge whatever he feels like for the extras!Make sure you or someone you trust is around whilst the work is in progress: don't leave 'em to it: periodic checks are essential! Belle
In 2005 we had central heating installed, it cost 9,000 euros, we had combi boiler, 13 rads, plus all the pipe work, and that also included Totalgaz digging out for the underground gas tank. LesFlamands
You don't say whether it includes ventilation and certificate of conformity or TVA @ 5.5% or 19.6%. Also, if you choose a condensing boiler you can get a 'credit impots' of between 25 and 40% of the cost of the boiler. But, even so, doesn't sound outrageous.
