thehydes
Hi All Have brought an electric towel radiator and have gone to wire it up and it has a blue neutral, a red for phase but also a black 'pilot' wire. Will this black wire just be wired to the phase as well?CheersTrickie
Maricopa
Hi thehydesThe pilot wire is used to switch on the towel rail during cheap rate periods with the appropriate circuitry. If this doesn't exist, then don't wire the pilot wire to anything.[:)]
Charlotte3
JUust as an aside,I have a client who spent a whopping 600euros on a towel rail!!! How the other half live!Aly

Russethouse
Ours wasn't far short of that but I wanted one that would really heat the bathroom, not just warm the towels......and it needed to be longer than it was wide, once you start wanting something a little out the norm the price zooms up.... Nearly Retired (I am now)
After much research in UK and France my 1000w one came from Brico Depot in Boulogne. I drove off Speed 1, bought it, stuffed it in the back of the car and connected it up in Charente Maritime. 144cm x 54cm - €130 all in.

Matt
The black "fil pilote" can be connected to a thermostat like these. http://www.leroymerlin.fr/mpng2-front/pre?zone=zonecatalogue&idLSPub=1182348980&renderall=on, (click the thermostats pour radiateurs electrique). Charlotte3
My client's one is identical to one available locally for 160euros. I wouldn't leave the price tag on.....I'd be too embarrassed!Aly
Tibblington
We searched far and wide for economic towel rails and eventually bought DIMPLEX rails from the U.K. Oil filled, very low consumption, 100w - 150w, and VERY effective. They use no more than a light bulb but all the energy is converted into heat. DIMPLEX are a difficult firm to deal with if you should need parts, however, the struggle is worth while. It's a pity that one of the French manufactuers doesn't get on to this type of rail a we would always prefer to buy a French product.
