Shoop
We have a polished stone/ mottled marble lookalike stairway in our holiday home we,re looking for ideas on how to clean it as it appears to have ground in dirt which ordinary cleaning materials won,t touch. Would prefer to buy the product in France as our next couple of visits will be hand luggage only and obviously carrying liquids is a no-no......thanks for any suggestions shoop
Tricia
You can buy sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) in France. There's a section in all the supermarkets with various unbranded cleaning products. In white plastic bottles. But use it diluted, wear gloves and have windows and doors open.I've used it to scrub brown stain off old lambris. Pierre ZFP
You can use sodium hydroxide but be aware that marble is affected by all polar solvents so be carefulI'm sure you know but NEVER USE ANY ACID ON MARBLEit will dissolve faster than England's hopes in the last SA test.Came across this site which has some suggestions http://pdrestorationsandiego.com/cm/Restoration%20Articles/Cleaning%20Marble%20and%20Stone.htmlPS I'm very envious of your marble flooring [:D]
Chancer
Savon Noir de Marseille should do a good job, the unbranded version is quite cheap in the "U" commercants.
