Rob Roy
We've bought a electric heated towel rail and the installation instructions state"...an omnipolar switch, with at least 3mm of distance between contacts, must be employed."My husband would like some clarification on what this involves please, as he not installed one before. Quillan
It is a switch that breaks both live and neutral. For instance a light switch does not do this, it just switches the live only. You can buy them from Brico Depot I know for sure because I bought one there although I suspect most bigger DIY stores will sell them. Strangely you can have them with a lamp inside so when they are switched on the switch is illuminated. The daft bit is they come as standard without the little bulb so you have to buy it separately, remove the switch cover, plug the bulb in then replace the switch cover.
