Flue for woodburning stove

Hi

We want to install a woodburning stove in our house and we can see that all the DIY shops stock the various parts but where can we get details of how to do it and which parts we need? Is there a book (in English) that we could buy to show how it is done?

We may have to support the stainless steel pipes in some way and would appreciate any suggestions as to how this can be achieved on a slated roof. We can see how stainless rods could be used but fixing them to the roof without causing leaks in the slates seems more of a problem.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Generally speaking the DIY shops do not stock the parts for woodburner flues. You will probably need double-skinned stainless (inox) tube which you buy cut to length. The stuff in the DIY stores is usually single-skinned tube for oil boilers and the like, and the enamelled finish rigid tube is OK for the link between your woodburner and the flue proper (the visible bit).

As above; get some professional advice. If you don't have a chimney already then the construction needs to be to strict standards, particularly regarding distances from wooden joists, beams etc, in order to prevent fires where you don't want them!

Two suppliers come to mind: http://www.poujoulat.fr/

You don't say where you are but I've used this firm which is not far form where I live: http://www.prosynergie.fr/fr/catalogue/cheminees-conduits-fumee.html
