Armoured cable

Interesting one!

The section of the braid will probably be equal to the conductors (do check though) so would be OK unlike T + E where its inferior, the earth conductor will however only be single insulated, I think even single coreserunning in a gaine are effectively double insulated in that the phase/neutre and the earth conductor both have an insulation so between them there is double insulation.

Finally for some cable runs, derivation individuelles for example you cannot run the earth conductor in the same gaine or goulotte as the phase/neutre and an SWA will effectively be doing just that.

On a practical level I think SWA is a very sensible thing to use in exposed situations and unless you have to pass a Consuel I would use it.

Thanks Chancer.

It is permitted in the UK though it does raise some concern- the relative conductivity of steel is different to copper.

It will be used for a max load of 100w - reason for asking just wanted to try to keep within the regs.
