Kate T
We have a maison secondaire and arrived a few days ago expecting to find a request for payment of these taxes, but nothing. Asked at the Mairie and they suggested that I contact the regional office - not very interested really. Asked a neighbour who told me that these taxes are paid in arrears and as we only purchased the house in the middle of September 2001 nothing would be due from us till November 2002. Does this seem reasonable? Or should I face the regional office with my limited French and hope for someone helpful?Any advice greatfully received

elaine and john
we bought our house dec 2001, we recd and paid a taxe foncieres in october. My neighbour who has property recd her taxe d habitation to be paid by dec 15, I was worrying in case our taxe d'habitation was sent the french address. I emailed both offices on the top of the taxe foncieres, I think it was the local one at Ploermel and and central at Rennes. I had an immediate reply telling me not to worry that it wasnt payable yet. I am sure they will let me knowelaine
