Geranium
Hi, I have been looking through the posts about transferring money. However most of the companies or methods mentioned seem to take quite a long time. Our Compromis de Vente is being signed on Tuesday and I understand I then have only a few days (9?) to get the 5% deposit into the Notaires account. We're talking over 20,000 so it's important to us to get a good exchange rate as well as keeping charges low.Our money is in our HSBC accont in UK but we also have a Credit Agricole account (with only a little in).Any suggestions as to who or what we should use please? Judie
You should not have to pay your deposit until after your 7 day cooling off period so you should have time to send it over without paying extortionate last minute transfer rates.Judiehttp://www.vienormande.com
Milly
We used our usual UK bank, Lloyds TSB for the same purpose it was very fast, with the notaire in a couple of days, and reasonably priced about 17. We used the same method for the final payment, again fast and in the right place at the right time and the cost was bearable for peace of mind.Milly
Penny29
We used HIFX - no charges the UK end as you just write them a cheque from your UK current a/c. they give competitive exchange rates and make no charges. They send the money straight to my French bank a/c as soon as my cheque has cleared.Mysteriously, my French bank a/c always takes another 4 days to credit my a/c. Strange that!Penny
