Soleiltan2
I received a tax bill (or so it seems) from Corlay, Cotes D'Armor. It was for 79 Euros and the Colectivite Service is Communaute De Communes Du Pays De Co Ordures Menageres. We have paid our annual tax on the farmhouse and have never received this bill before -- from this entity. Are we being taxed because we don't live there full-time or is this a tax on our caravan that sits in the driveway?Soleiltan2
Will
No, it sounds like the charge for dealing with household waste, that is being introduced by many districts which may not have previously made a separate charge.Maybe Val_2 who is a local councillor in Brittany (though a different area) could confirm or otherwise? Will (50)Forum moderator
Val_2
Yes it is your rubbish collection invoice and you must pay it by the date stated on the bill or be charged interest. Holiday home owners have no cheaper rate, they pay the same as full time residents even if the service is not the same. With the introduction of the Tri Collectif this year bills will have increased somewhat depending onyour commune and the dept prefecture guidelines. No one likes paying bills for something they hardly use but that is one of the downsides of owning a holiday home here and in some places there are more of these properties than everyday residents and the mairie need all the money coming in they can gather to continue to keep the commune functioning.
