Gabe
Is there anybody that can help me with the above. We are permanently relocating to France sometime in the next 6 months, with our three children. Initially neither myself or my wife will be working as we intend to renovate our property and set up our business. We have sufficient funds to cover us for the three years that we expect this to take. My question is that, whilst we certainly do not intend to rely on the state to support us, would we be entitled to family allowance and are there any qualifying periods or criteria that need to be met first ?Any help on this would be gratefully received. Val_2
Your family allowance will be transferred to France, However you must "sign off" with Newcastle first and get them to provide all the necessary documents required by the CAF in France. You need then to visit your local CAF (Caisse Allocation Familliale) where you live inFrance and apply for your benefit to be paid here. I will warn you that this could take upto 6 months to sort out if Newcastle drag their heels, but you will eventually receive all the back payment from the last time you received it in the UK. It will also be paid direct into your french bank account,so you need to furnish a RIB to the CAF when applying.
