Minimum wage and social security...

As an employer, I can tell you that for the minimum wage of 7,61 euros per hour working a 35 hour week which equates to 151,67 hours per month (don't ask!), his salary "brut" will be 1154,20 euros per month of which he will take home 913,38. Therefore total stoppages are 240.82. The employers costs to employ someone are around double of what the employee gets so you can see why wages are quite low in France.

These figures are variable according to individual circumstances and do vary but it will give you a good idea of what to expect, based on my personal experience as an employer in France
