Marym2
Hi,If you have a Nationwide credit card, you will no longer get cashback from buying goods aboard, letter today stated that: 'we will no longer pay cash rewards on transactions made abroard, or made with retailers that are registered outside the UK'So bang goes all the little extras that this was making up, is there anyone out there who has a similar sort of card that we could change too? We always spend quite a lot doing up the house, materials, tools etc, plus all the booze we bring back. That was one of the reasons for taking this card on, as well as a good exchange rate. BJSLIV
Whatever you might gain by using a cash-back card that will pay on foreign transactions overall you would certainly pay more because of their higher loadings on foreign purchases which can be as much as 2.75%. Lachouette
Saw a programme on TV a couple of weeks ago that said that if you use a credit card abroad, the one to use, irrespective of whether you get cash back or not, was the Nationwide's as it didn't load it to convert euros, or whatever, back into £s.We've been using Goldfish and Nationwide credit cards here in France, but have stopped using Goldfish as the exchange rate with Nationwide is so much better for euro purchases.Jan
